OKPOBOR INSPECTS CANAL PROJECT SITE AT ELLU

The Executive Director, Finance and Administration on the DESOPADEC Board, Chief Kome Okpobor on 29th October, 2023 in a proactive move to address potential flooding concerns in Isoko North and South, made a special visit to the canal project site at Ellu where he emphasized the significance of the ongoing project which aims at facilitating better water flow, preventing potential flood risks that have plagued the area in recent years.
During the visit, the EDFA inspected the progress of the canal project, asking the engineers and construction workers questions about the intricacies involved in the design and the anticipated benefits upon completion and commended the efforts being made to fortify the region’s infrastructure against flooding.
The canal project being constructed by DESOPADEC is designed to improve water distribution and manage excess water during heavy rainfall, which is a focal point in the State’s efforts to mitigate flood – related issues.
“The significance of such initiatives is to safeguard communities and to foster a more resilient environment,” Chief Okpobor said.
Chief Okpobor then assured them of continued support from His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori in proper allocation of resources to communities affected by flooding.
It is pertinent to state here that this visit reflects the administration’s commitment to proactively address environmental challenges and prioritize the safety and well-being of the communities affected by potential flooding.
